A speedy way of improving literacy skills in Indonesia

On the Indonesian island of Flores, many families are too poor to afford books and most public libraries are under stocked. To help with the problem, SOS has built mobile libraries onto the back of two motorcycles, each holding around 700 books. Three times a week, the 'book bikes' travel to deprived areas, giving hundreds of children the opportunity to access free resources and improve their literacy skills.Read More

SENIOR ACCOUNTANT | Two orphaned refugee children’s homes in NORTHERN-UGANDA

urgently need a volunteer | Assignment length 6+ weeks

Our two partners, a children’s home for refugee orphaned children aged between 6 and 18 and a babies’ home for abandoned and orphaned babies, need a senior accountant to assist with their financial capacity building and creating sustainable procedures and controls.

Our partners strive to give vulnerable children in this area an opportunity for a better future. They are in the process of establishing more income-generating projects so that the homes can become increasingly self-sufficient. They are also engaged in dialogue with the local community, members of parliament and district officials to ensure that they play their role in the homes' management and sustainability.

Could you spare some time and share your professional knowledge with these two very deserving organisations? This is your opportunity to use your accounting skills to make a genuine difference while gaining memorable hands on experience in the international development sector.

A Gift of Hope-SOS Children

One fine day, I decided to raise fund via Touch One Heart & Gift of Hope Program for SOS Children Villages as part of my way of giving back to the society. My target is that by end of 2011, I shall be able to raise GBP1,505.74. Things have been not progressing that well, unfortunately and the only way is to do more promotions and aggressively market the initiative and I know for a fact, that it is not going to be easy.

As you can read from SOS Children Villages website, Gift to Liveis sanctioned by the organization as one way to help to raise the fund.

For one, I did not take or benefit a single cent from every single penny that you, the most generous person on earth donate or contribute. All the amounts go directly to SOS Children

Below is the email extract that I got from Touch One Heart & Gift of Hope that read ;

" Irwan, don't miss out on the last bank holiday before August. Book now for 30th May with up to 30% off at Hotels.com and raise 2.5% for SOS Children.

Book by 9th May to receive up to 30% off hotel bookings from Hotels.com. From Boston to Barcelona to Bath, with Give as you Live™, Everyclick's new shopping App, Hotels.com will donate 2.5% of whatever you spend to SOS Children and give you up to 30% off your booking.

There are hundreds of other travel retailers offering flights, days out and holidays with Give as you Live™ including lastminute.com, British Airways and Expedia.Book now to avoid missing out on the last bank holiday before August."

Perhaps, you can help the children from all over the world with Touch One Heart & Gift of Hope Program that I am currently having for SOS Children Villages by making your booking and reservation of your holidays and vacations of choices with your beloved ones via Gift to Live Program. What is more satisfying, other than knowing that you have made a difference to someone life while enjoying your vacations with the loved ones.

I would like to THANK YOU for each and everyone of you who donate and everyone of you who shared this initiative with the rest of you circle of influences. Let spread the words about this initiative. For every 1 GBP you contribute, it will make a BIG Difference and Give Hope to Children all over the world.

Time to make a change : In support of good cause

"A good cause can become bad if we fight for it with means that are indiscriminately murderous. A bad cause can become good if enough people fight for it in a spirit of comradeship and self-sacrifice. In the end it is how you fight, as much as why you fight, that makes your cause good or bad." - Dyson, Freeman
Got a message of a friend of mine @ Nina ;
"This reminds me of a saying: It's not so much of the size of the dog in the fight, but more of the size of the fight in the dog'. When you fight fair and diligently, you will win."
I am helping a friend of mine, Dan Wilson who will be participating in " Walk The Wall 2010 Hong Kong ", organized by International China Concern, a registered charity providing full time care for hundreds of children and adult with disabilities. He is in the midst of raising about USD 500 as part of his pledge to contribute and donate to the organization for the benefits of unique children and adult alike.

I am to work together with him for one main reason, because it is for good cause and WHY not ? I am inviting all of you my reader, to join Dan and myself to make a difference in their life. You can participate in many ways ;
1. Participate in the walk yourself [ if you happened to be around Hong Kong or China] ;
2. Share about the program with the rest of your friends and circle of influence;
3. Sponsor my friend Dan Wilson, by clicking the button below;

Sponsor Me

Every single penny and dollar of our contribution will directly go the organization , International China Concern. Find out more about the organization and the program here ;

Read more about the organizer @ Walk The Wall

Do not worry about how much , even a $ 1 a person will make long way for the organization. Just remember the power of 1 ! If 1 person pledges to contribute $1 , imagine how much if 1 million person pledges to do the same ? Collectively, it will be USD 1 Million !
It is the special person like each and every one of you who make it happens, and together we make it happens !
Hope to  see you, joining me and together we make it happens !It is all now yours !
