Read more Malaysia Airlines
My view, it is indeed a good move by Malaysia Airlines to be a real global player in the airline industries.
While it enhances customer's experiences, it is also providing the staff i.e. the cabin crew with the right skills to serve the french speaking customers [now even plans for German, Spanish and Arabic speaking passengers]. I personally view this as multiple pronged strategies for Malaysia Airlines and if this continues, MAS aspirations to be the best airline in Asia will be met and MAS is ready for Open Skies Agreement with any countries.
The strategies are ;
1. People development - providing the opportunities to the staff to enhance and upgrade their skills resulting them have a feeling of being appreciated by the management and company. This will improve sense of loyalty among the staff and provide them room to further grow with the company;
2. Enhancement to customers' satisfaction- naturally MAS will have repeat, loyal customers and translate into higher revenue;
3. Cost optimization - rather than recruiting native speakers directly, which may have cost impact on manpower cost, training the local staff apparently make more sense in terms of cost management;
4. Branding and positioning- it certainly and surely enhance MAS MH [ Malaysian Hospitality ] concept as a global carrier and ready to compete with other giants and established airlines like Singapore Airlines, Emirates and Qatar Airways.
On longer terms strategy, perhaps MAS shall also extend the requirement and encourage the staff to master at least 1 foreign language, especially the front desk staff who deals directly with the customers and on bigger scope, for the government to require school children to master at least 1 foreign language to provide a stream of resources and manpower who are ready to face a fierce globalization.
Shall Malaysia Airport Berhad who manage all the airports in Malaysia except Senai Airport emulate MAS moves ? [ KLIA have made announcement in multiple languages], how about to extend it further ? How about Immigration Dept and Eraman ?
I wish one day, when a passenger [ regardless of nationalities] decide which airline and airport to use, Malaysia Airlines and KLIA are the obvious choice and stand out from the rest.
