MAS-Air Asia-Qantas ? Is Love in the air ?

AirAsia and Malaysia Airlines aircrafts at Kua...Image via Wikipedia
Firstly, the announcement that Malaysia Airlines due to join Oneworld airline alliance, with Qantas being the sponsor. Remember this : that Japan Airlines is one of the Oneworld member.

Secondly, came the announcement that Air Asia signed an agreement to establish Air Asia Japan with All Nippon Airlines (ANA). ANA is a member of Star Alliance, shall I say competitor to Oneworld alliance.

Thirdly, share swap and management shook up involving Malaysia Airlines and Air Asia- once was a bitter rival and enemy, and now a family and friend . Skeptics being skeptics, they claimed there was something fishy about the deal. But for me, I guess that is the best for the country. Fireflies airlines fate is unknown, but Sapphire Airlines which will focus on premium travel were being mentioned.

Fourthly, Qantas low cost carrier, Jetstar signed an agreement to establish Jetstar Japan together with Japan Airlines and Mitsubishi.

 Quoting from http://www.gulfnews.com

Qantas seeks a base for new airline
" Qantas CEO Alan Joyce said yesterday he is negotiationg with multiple Asian governments to find a base for a new premium airline that the Australian carrier hopes will turn around its loss -making international business. Singapore and Kuala Lumpur have been mentioned in media reports as preferred options but Joyce said a decision had yet to be made"

Just to track a little bit about what had happened in the past- the courting, seducing, flirting, marriage proposal, co-operation have been going around for Air Asia, Malaysia Airlines , Qantas and Jetstar. Let me bring back memories down the lane;

1. During Dato' Seri Idris Jalan stewardship, there were rumours saying that Malaysia Airlines and Qantas were getting married !

2. Then, Air Asia signed MOU with Jetstar with the objective to collaborate in areas of interest for cost reduction !

3. Both LCCs- Air Asia and Jetstar are operating long haul LCC services, the former from Kuala Lumpur with  the latter from Singapore.

So, with all those happenings, do you think that LOVE is actually in the air ?  Is something in the pipeline with Sapphire too ?

And also, Robert Kuok is not the 4th largest shareholders of American Airlines, another member of oneworld alliance.

Only times will tell......
